I am pretty sure that in every house, there is a go-to meal for busy weeknights. Growing up, my mom’s go-to meal was whatever vegetables were left over in the fridge, sautéed over a bed of pasta. In Dan’s house, his dad would quickly grill juicy, homemade burgers, any night of the week. While we have a few fast favorites in our house, one of our weekly staples is sausage dogs. One of the best things about our weekly go-to is that we never make the same sausage dog twice. However, based on the amazing tastes of these teriyaki dogs, we will surely make these again and again!




Teriyaki Dogs




We love perusing the different varieties of sausages and pairing them with creative ingredients. Whether the main ingredient is sun-dried tomatoes or chicken and apples, we enjoy making the perfect bite out of the already prepared meats. This time around, we chose a delectable bourbon and bacon sausage, topped it with pineapple, teriyaki sauce and onions and called it a teriyaki sausage dog. This was one of our favorite ones yet, and I am already looking forward to the next time we these teriyaki dogs again!




Teriyaki Dogs

The combination of pineapple, teriyaki and Dan’s made-up sauce, created for the most delicious treat! Every bite was incredibly flavorful, juicy and full of zest. The overall taste was so fun that this is the first sausage dog that I know we will recreate again and again. Something just works with the mixture of bacon, pineapple and sausage, and we were so excited devour all of the amazing flavors at once.




Teriyaki Dogs

Dan and I love to make up different sauces to accompany our dishes and have a lot of fun making them from scratch. Ever since we started cooking almost nightly, we have become much better at knowing what ingredients to put together for a delicious sauce. When I told Dan what would be put on the sausages, he began quickly pulling out condiments from the refrigerator. Mayonnaise, mustard and hot sauce bottles started flying. In seconds, he knew how to create the best sauce to accompany the fantastic tastes. This newfound skill of ours has been really fun to pair with our foods. Best of all, these made up sauces make for an even tastier dish.

These incredible teriyaki dogs would be perfect for an outdoor party or a quick weeknight meal. These delicious sausages will amaze kids and adults alike. We know that upon your first bite, they will become a favorite in your house, just like they are in ours.

Teriyaki Hot Dogs

Teriyaki Hot Dogs

Ingredients

  • 6 Hot Dog Buns
  • 6 Sausages ( We used Silva bourbon sausage)
  • 1 can Pineapple, cubed
  • 1 Red Onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cilantro, chopped
  • 3 strips Bacon, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/2 Juice of a Lime
  • For the Sauce:
  • 1 tablespoon Mayonaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 Juice of a Lime
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausages according to package instructions. Place on hot dog buns.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the pineapple, onion, cilantro, bacon, lime juice and teriyaki sauce. Mix and top onto hotdogs evenly.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, add the mayo, mustard, worcestershire sauce, teriyaki sauce, hot sauce and lime juice. Mix until smooth and salt and pepper to taste. Place on top of dogs. Enjoy!
