Pretzel dogs have been a fan favorite in our house this last year, so we are excited to share this simple recipe with our readers. It keeps with our ongoing Back to School theme of easy and delicious meals! This pretzel dog is packed with flavor, and can be quickly served to families. As many of you now know, Allie is a Pre-school Special Education teacher. Sometimes cooking is the last thing she wants to do after a long and hard day. We plan our meals a head of time so nights such as these are less stressful. She never regrets a day she spends with “her kiddos” as she has come to refer them as. Another great easy to prepare meal is our Chicken Caesar Pitas, recipe can be found here.

Pretzel Dog

Whenever I think of this recipe, the first thing that comes to mind are baseball games with my late father. Every time he took me to a game, he usually allowed me to have a real culinary ballpark experience. Most games I enjoyed a giant pretzel, or hot dog, and a soda. When Allie suggested we combine two of my favorite sporting foods, I was curious and excited. She explained how we would wrap the pretzel dough around a cooked hot dog, and serve it with our favorite mustard sauce. I knew we had to try it!

Pretzel Dogs

The best part of these pretzel dogs are the basic ingredients that can be found in any grocery store! All you need to buy are precooked sausages, and a package of pretzel dough. Cook the sausages according to the label, wrap them in pretzel dough and your meal is ready! During the summer time we would usually grill the sausage, but in this instance we were trying to prepare this meal fast. It keeps with our back to school theme and allows parents to quickly prepare a meal for the family.

Also, we want to give our readers a heads up! We are brand new to Yummly, a recipe website, so we would greatly appreciate it if you “yum” this recipe. You can find the yum button where the ingredients are located at the bottom of this post.
