Battering and frying fish was something we were definitely intimidated by before we made these tacos. Fish tacos are one of our favorite foods, but the process to make them at home seemed a bit daunting. After we finished the first few steps, we realized what a breeze these easy battered fish tacos truly were! They really were almost effortless! With simple directions and a ton of flavor, these fish tacos are a something everyone should try to make this summer. We loved how each bite was so incredible that they tasted as if we got them from a great restaurant. They really surprised us by how amazingly simple and delicious they were!

Easy Battered Fish Tacos with Molli Mexico City Sauce

Ingredients

    For the Battered Fish
  • 1 pound Cod
  • 1/4 cup Molli Mexico City Cooking Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Beer
  • 3 tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • Vegetable Oil for Frying
  • For the Tacos
  • 6-8 Corn Tortillas
  • 1/4 cup Purple Cabbage
  • 1 Peach, chopped
  • 1 Avocado, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Green Onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Feta Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Molli Mexico City Cooking Sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare cod by de-thawing and then cutting into small strips. Set aside.
  2. In two separate mixing bowls, add ingredients. In one bowl, place the Molli Mexico City Cooking Sauce, beer, white vinegar and egg. In the other bowl, add the flour, paprika, baking powder, cornstarch and salt.
  3. One at a time, dip the fish into the wet ingredients and then into the dry, making sure that the entire fish is coated. Place fish on a plate. Continue this process until are fish strips are battered.
  4. Heat a pan with about two inches of vegetable oil. Wait until the oil is very hot, and then place a quarter of the fish in the pan. Fry each side for about three minutes. When finished, place on a plate lined with a paper towel. Continue this process until each piece of fish is fried.
  5. For the Tacos
  6. Heat the corn tortillas. In each tortilla, place the purple cabbage and two pieces of fried fish. Top each taco evenly with peaches, avocado, cilantro, green onion, feta and additional Molli Mexico City Cooking Sauce. Enjoy!
