A great burger can be one of life’s simple joys. We absolutely love burgers, especially when they are perfectly prepared. For a few years, Dan and I searched high and low for the tastiest burger. We tried it on every menu and devoured some of the most creative ingredient combinations. During this burger quest, we did not have a single bad burger. Instead, we had several amazingly juicy creations. When we searched to make our first burger on our blog, we knew it had to be an incredible one. With our love for bacon, we also were certain that it had to feature this key ingredient. The first time I heard of bacon jam, my mouth watered and I knew we had to make it. As we dreamed up our burger, we were convinced that it had to have bacon jam, pouring from it. This bacon jam burger was just as fantastic as it looks. Every bite was gushing with amazing flavor and had me so amazed that it came from our little kitchen.

With the holidays approaching, this burger is the perfect simple recipe to wow out of town guests. I can imagine family coming to stay with us, being amazed by all of the incredible flavors pouring from the jam. Each bite was packed with the most amazing flavors that I wished I could savor every great taste. Not only were the ingredients rich and savory, but the combinations were completely unexpected. It was one of those creations that had me shocked that it was homemade. We were so impressed by our own cooking, that we could not believe it came from out own pots, pans and ingredients.

Prepare this burger for a date night in or for visiting guests. It can be varied beautifully by adding tomatoes, bacon strips or even barbecue sauce. We love how versatile it is. Most of all, we love the complete simplicity of making bacon jam. When we looked up how to make the jam for our bacon jam burger, we were intimidated by the process. However, when we started to create the jam, it was so fast and amazingly delicious. With a few ingredients and a big appetite, this terrific burger can appear before your eyes. We know that when you set out to make this bacon jam burger, you will be just as astonished as we were. After devouring it, we hope you realize how effortless and tasty it truly is.

Bacon Jam Burger

Ingredients

  • 8 Slices of Bacon, diced
  • 1 Large Onion, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Sherry Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 3 teaspoons Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2- 4 Prepared Beef Patties
  • 2-4 Hamburger Buns
  • 1 cup Fresh Arugula
  • 1/4 cup Cranberry Sauce
  • 2-4 Slices Guyre Cheese

Instructions

  1. After bacon is diced, fry for about five minutes. Set aside on a plate with a paper towel. Drain fat from pan.
  2. Saute onions until soft and translucent for about 8 to 10 minutes. Pour brown sugar and sherry vinegar into the pan. Stir for one minute and then add the cooked bacon and water. Stir for about 10 minutes and allow jam to become dark in color and thick. Set aside.
  3. Prepare patties according to directions.
  4. Spread bacon jam on one side of the bun and cranberry sauce on the other. Place patty in buns and top with cheese and arugula. Enjoy!
