I hate to admit it, but before this recipe, I had never used my crockpot before. I know – it is a horrible statement. After I used this remarkable contraption, I knew that I could never cook the same way again. Once I discovered the incredible powers of the crock pot, I knew I would ever be able to go back to using just pots and pans. When we looked into what to make to represent the Kansas City Chiefs, we knew we had to break into our unopened crock pot box. To make these incredible slow cooker spare rib sliders, all we had to do was pour a quick sauce over the meat, cover the crock pot and walk away. That was it! When the tender, fall apart meat was ready to be placed on the delectable pretzel buns, we instantly could tell that these sliders were a real delight.

When we began researching what to make to represent the Kansas City Chiefs, we quickly realized that making a barbecue sauce was a must. We also found that we could pair it with just about any meat. When we looked more into Kansas City barbecue sauces, we found that they are traditionally thick, have a tomato base and are both sweet and spicy. We tried to emulate that when making our sauce and found it to be perfectly tangy. After we simply threw it on top of the meat, we smelled the most zesty and flavorful smells.
