These easy and cheesy shrimp and grits will become your new favorite, mouthwatering comfort dish.

Every once in a while we make a dish that completely wows us. This dish is usually something we never have thought twice about making. It also is something that we never thought could come out so deliciously from our kitchen. When we made these incredible shrimp and grits, they one hundred percent knocked our socks off. The shrimp were so buttery, spicy and full of garlic. On top of a bed of cheesy, creamy and rich grits, this combination was completely fantastic and fun. If we could create this perfect dish in our kitchen, then you easily can as well in yours.

We are a few days late in our football food posts, but only because we have been having fun and making other delicious foods. With only six recipes left to complete all 32 teams, we cannot believe that this exciting task is almost complete! This week, the team we are highlighting is the Jacksonville Jaguars. Over and over again when we researched what to make, seafood kept appearing. After looking at several different leads, we finally got most excited by the idea of shrimp and grits. While looking for what seemed like forever, I finally stumbled upon a delicious dish that is served at the Jaguar stadium. Using a staple that is huge in Jacksonville, this dish is loaded with buttery and irresistible shrimp.

While I am excited to start making more healthy and light foods, there is something so exciting about making addicting game food. These delightful shrimp and grits fit right into the addicting category. If you are looking for something that will wow guests, your kids or your significant other, then this is your dish. Shrimp and Grits

Ingredients

  • For the Shrimp
  • 1 pound Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Red Chili Flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Parsley Flakes
  • For the Grits
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 2 cups Water
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 cup Ground Cornmeal
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 3/4 cup Sharp Cheddar, shredded

Instructions

  1. For the Shrimp
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet and add in the garlic, salt, pepper, red chili flakes and parsley.
  3. Add in the shrimp and stir occasionally, until pink, about 4 to 5 minutes. Set aside.
  4. For the Grits
  5. In a large pot, bring the milk, water and salt to a boil. Once it is brought to a boil, add in the cornmeal and whisk continually. After whisking for two minutes, decrease the heat to low and cover. Stir on and off for 3 minutes for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter, cheese and pepper.
  7. Place the shrimp on top and garnish with any remaining cheese and parsley. Enjoy!
