Ever since I was little I have loved to sing. It started out as a little hobby and then went into an obsession that I decided to get a college degree in. Given that I obviously took a different career route over pursuing music, I thoroughly enjoy singing the National Anthem at baseball games each summer. When I was in high school, I sang at my very first River Cats (a minor league Sacramento baseball team) game. After that, I sang for the Oakland A’s, the San Fransisco Giants and for the Sacramento Kings. Every summer since that first game, I sing for at least two baseball games. It is such an exhilarating feeling! Dan always jokes about how I would rather sing for 30,000 people than for three. He is absolutely right, and I would choose to belt out the Star Spangled Banner to a crowd of unfamiliar people any day. This week, I got the privilege to sing for the River Cats game and I got pulled right back into why I love music and singing so much.

It is hard to put into words how powerful music truly is. When you are producing the music yourself through a voice or an instrument, there is something even more incredible that occurs during this process. Whenever I get the chance to sing whether it is on my way to work or for a stadium of baseball fans, I get that powerful feeling. Right now, my best audience is my little class full of three and four year olds, but someday, I hope to find a way to truly sing my heart out.
