Now that we are finally moved in, we can finally use our grill again! When Dan’s mom visited us this weekend, we were determined to make a juicy and amazing burger for her. Recently for Dan’s birthday last month, I bought him an Air Fryer. Well, honestly, I am benefiting from it too, so I may have selfishly purchased it for both of us. However, I am so glad that we own it! It is the most amazing cooking tool we own. We have only used it four times, and it already is a real gem! Basically, our air fryer evenly and perfectly fries food without oil, thus creating healthier fried food. Best of all, it takes a matter of minutes to deliciously fry any food imaginable. When my mother-in-law visited, she really wanted to see how his new gift worked. Therefore, I tried to think of something tasty and fried to place inside of our juicy cheeseburger. After a few ideas, Dan and I came up with this incredible fried zoodle cheeseburger.

Fried Zoodle Cheeseburgers

Having company over to see our new home has been so fun. One of the amazing perks of our house is that it came with club membership. This club membership is especially fantastic this summer because of the beautiful and relaxing pool. While my mother-in-law visited, we laid by the pool daily. Every morning, we brought a book, sipped on a cocktail and jumped into the chilling water. Since Sacramento is currently so unbearable, this was the greatest treat! After all of this much needed relaxation, we needed food that captured the amazing essence of summer. This fried zoodle cheeseburger did just that.

Fried Zoodle Cheeseburgers

After we made these juicy and wonderful burgers, we were so delighted by their outcome. With the use of our Air Fryer and our grill, they were so incredibly simple to make. I took care of the toppings while Dan grilled outside and cooked our burgers to complete perfection. Every summer deserves an indulgent burger, and this one is a real pleasure.

If you have a small, outdoor gathering to prepare for, these zoodle burgers would be the best meal. We loved how every bite had the best essence of summer. If you make these, please let us know how they came out! And, if you are lucky enough to have an Air Fryer, make these fried zoodles as a side dish. They are almost guilt free and are a fun, crispy snack! Stay tuned for more summery treats and for more recipes involving our new, favorite kitchen gadget.

Yield: 3 - 4 Burgers

Fried Zoodle Cheeseburgers

Ingredients

  • For the Burgers
  • 1 Pound Ground Beef * (see notes)
  • 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
  • 1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Flakes
  • For the Fried Zoodles
  • 1 large Zucchini, spiralized
  • 1/4 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
  • For the Garnish
  • 3-4 Hamburger Buns
  • 3-4 slices Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 Tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup Blue Cheese Crumbles
  • 1/4 cup Arugula
  • Mayonaise
  • Ketchup

Instructions

  1. For the Burgers
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, garlic, breadcrumbs, ketchup, salt, pepper, worcestershire sauce and red chili flakes. With hands, mix all contents. Once fully mixed, form into patties. This mixture makes between three and four patties, depending on desired size. On the grill or stovetop, cook each side for the desired amount. We cooked ours for about five minutes each side. Place the cheddar cheese on top for the last minute of cooking.
  3. For the Fried Zoodles
  4. In a mixing bowl, coat the spiralized zucchini with buttermilk and breadcrumbs. Place the zucchini on a greased baking sheet for 375 degrees for 15 minutes. We cooked ours using an Air Fryer on 360 degrees for 7 minutes.
  5. To Finish
  6. Place each burger in a bun and top with cheeses, tomato, arugula, fried zucchini, mayo and ketchup. Enjoy!

Notes

Instead of using just lean ground beef, we asked the butcher for two different types of meat. This combination made our burgers even jucier and more delicious: 3/4 of a Pound Lean Ground Beef 1/4 of a Pound 80% Lean Ground Beef
