This roll was made for our weekly football food posts. Well, our posts used to be weekly, but after the holidays, they became a little less frequent. We only have five more to post before we have accomplished a recipe for all 32 teams! In fact, we have made every recipe that is left, and only have to post them! When we started this journey, 32 recipes for 32 teams felt like an impossible task. However, now that we are almost finished, we are so thrilled that we tackled this fun and delicious goal!

Butter Lobster Roll

We made this lobster roll to represent the San Fransisco 49ers. In our home, Dan takes football very seriously. Given that he was born in San Fransisco and grew up in the North Bay, the 49ers are obviously the team he roots for every week. Through the best seasons and the worst, Dan watches every 49er game. Given his dedication for the team, we knew we needed to make something worthy for them. Since his family lives in the city, we have eaten at numerous restaurants and have tried many different cuisines that San Fransisco has to offer. Obviously, one of our favorite foods that San Fransisco has to offer is seafood. Whether it is crab, shrimp or fish, seafood is a staple in San Fransisco. This butter lobster roll perfectly represents San Fransisco with its simplicity and bold flavors. When we bit in, we knew that we captured our favorite flavors that that great city has to offer.

Butter Lobster Roll

Butter Lobster Roll

Ingredients

  • 2 Lobster Tails
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tablespoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup Chives, chopped
  • 2-4 Sourdough Rolls

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Using kitchen shears, cut the lobster shells from the open portion to the tip of the tail. Delicately open the shell so that the meat slowly separates from the shell. Check for the digestive track and remove by slicing down the center.
  2. Pour the olive oil evenly on the lobsters and rub hands along both sides of the lobster meat. Evenly sprinkle the paprika on the lobster.
  3. Bake the lobster for 5 to 6 minutes or 2 minutes per ounce and then broil for 3 to 4 minutes. After baking, cut the lobster meat into small cubes.
  4. Melt the buttered mix with the garlic and salt.
  5. Place the lobster in the sourdough rolls. We cut a rectangle in the top of our rolls so that the lobster could fill it perfectly. Top with butter mixture and garnish with chives. Enjoy!
